Moderated Group Membership
When a group is set to Require Individual Member Approval, the moderators for that group are identified. When the profile of a user (i.e. the user's attributes, role etc.) matches the definition of the group, and before the user becomes an actual member of the group - the designated moderators are notified via email and requested to approve the user's membership in the group. Moderators can also proactively use the system's Pending Approval view to examine any pending requests that the moderator has in their queue.
This approval system provides an audit trail and verification that the user belongs in the group and that the groups’ system access is correct.
